Moving in with the N. Torres family in Matamoros, Donaciana and her family awaited the day they would be reunited with Basilio and Jesus, as well as Basilio's father, Jesus. This happy event occurred on April 10, 1919 when Donaciana officially immigrated and crossed the Rio Grande to Brownsville, Texas. Accompanying her, as noted in the Immigration records, were her children Delia (18 years of age), Jose (13), Beatriz (11), Josefa (9), Mauro (5) and Maria de los Angeles (just under 14 months old). The immigration record lists her arrival contact as her husband Basilio Alcala, so apparently he was already in Brownsville. Missing from the immigration record for Donaciana are her 3 eldest sons, Jesus (21), Basilio (16) and Guadalupe (14); presumably they were already with their father in Brownsville. In fact, there is an immigration record for the son Jesus showing he arrived in Brownsville on January 21, 1919; no arrival contacts are listed for Jesus but it may well be that his father Basilio was either already in Brownsville at that time, or arrived at the same time.
