Ponciano SALINAS Barrientes. According to his family's oral history, Ponciano Salinas was a full-blooded Indian who was adopted into this family. Ponciano and Juana Salinas, daughter of his adopted father's brother Ramon Salinas, fell in love and eloped because Ramon would not consent to his daughter marrying an Indian.
Seabury has Juana marrying a man named Ponciano Salinas Barrientes but does not indicate him to be the same Ponciano Salinas he shows as the son of Ponciano Salinas, Sr. It is my belief, based on this family's oral history, that they are one and the same. Parents: Ponciano SALINAS and Paulina LOA.

Xavier SALINAS. Xavier Salinas was the Original Grantee of the "San Pedro de las Motas" grant, covering 5 leagues (22,140 acres) in present-day Kenedy County, Texas. The land grant was made by the Mexican state of Tamaulipas in 1833 and was confirmed by the Texas legislature on February 10, 1852.

Angela SAN MIGUEL. According to his Marriage Investigation (#15-3, page 66) eleven months prior (about October 1710) Juan Lobo Guerrero had promised to marry Angela San Miguel and took her from her home while her father was absent in Nuevo Leon. He took her to the home of her maternal grandmother Josepha Valdes.
There is some question as to whether he actually married Angela de San Miguel. There was another Marriage Investigation (#51-10, page 225) on November 23, 1721 for the prospective marriage of Juan Lobo Guerrero to Melchora Lisondo (Elizondo) which does not indicate that Juan Lobo Guerrero was previously married, but does note that he had an illicit affair with a natural daughter of Tomas Lisondo (Elizondo), a brother of his prospective father-in-law Francisco Lisondo (Elizondo). Parents: Sebastian de SAN MIGUEL and Catarina (Catalina?) JIMENEZ.
