Faustina GARZA was born in 1847 in El Azucar Ranch. She died on September 22, 1922. She was buried in La Soledad Ranch. Josefina Vera said in her manuscript that Faustino Alvarado was married to Santos Garza and that they were the parents of Romualda Alvarado. Blanca Alvarado-Curl says that Florencio Alvarado was the brother of Romualda Alvarado and that he was married to Faustina Garza. It appears Josefina Vera's recollections may have been inaccurate; perhaps, the woman she remembered as Santos Garza was in reality Faustina Garza.
Josefina Vera also stated that Santos Garza and her sisters Mercedes, Marcela and "la Huera" had been kidnapped by the Apaches and lived with them for some years. Santos first met Lucas Longoria as a boy when he was also captured by the Apaches.
Whether Santos Garza and Faustina Garza are separate persons or the same remains to be resolved. Parents: Rafael GARZA and Rosalia CANTU.

Fermin GARZA died in 1917 in Encino, Brooks County, TX, USA. He was buried in 1917 in Las Cuatas cemetery, Brooks County, Texas. He was born in Mexico. Fermin and his wife immigrated to the Brownsville area in the United States around 1862. He moved his family to the Encino area of Brooks County probably a few years before 1900. He worked at El Lucero ranch as a goatherder/sheepherder and farmer.

Francisco "Pancho Chinchillo" GARZA was born on July 21, 1886 in Rancho "Las Animas", Willacy County, Texas. At the time, Rancho Las Animas was in Cameron County. He died on August 15, 1974. He was buried in Rancho "Las Cuatas", Encino, Texas. Francisco Garza was widely known as Pancho Chinchillo, most people who knew him well say, because of his outstanding riding ability on a horse. Hardly anything could knock him off a horse and he could break most any wild horse. People would say he was like a chinche (bedbug) attaching itself to one's skin. He was also small in stature and thus he was like a small bedbug, hence "chinchillo". Pancho being a nickname for his given name of Francisco, he became known as Pancho Chinchillo.
He was an excellent horseman and cowhand and worked at several of the large ranches in South Texas, including the King Ranch, the McAllen Ranch, the East Ranch, the El Salado Ranch, and others. He was also known to be a "tequilero" or tequila smuggler during the Prohibition era, smuggling tequila and mescal from Mexico and hauling it north into Falfurrias and other nearby towns. There is a photo of him being arrested by custom inspectors on page 509 of the book "I Would Rather Sleep in Texas", by Mary Margaret McAllen Amberson, James A. McAllen and Margaret H. McAllen, descendants of the founder of the McAllen Ranch and the namesake for the city of McAllen, Texas.
