Yrinea VILLARREAL Garza was born about 1813. Her age is given as 47 years in the 1860 Census, which indicates her year of birth was 1813. However, there is a good chance the Census is in error as to her age (see note for her husband Juan Longoria's birth). She died on December 13, 1892 in La Grulla, Starr County, TX, USA. She was buried in La Grulla, Starr County, TX, USA. She is buried in the same vault as her son Eugenio Longoria, her mother-in-law Maria Nicolasa Flores, her husband Juan Longoria and her daughter Yrinea Longoria Garcia.
Yrinea was from the Villarreales Ranch in Mexico.
After her husband died, Yrinea purchased, on Aug. 23, 1892, the interests of Romana Villarreal de Pena and her husband, Miguel Pena, in 250 acres in "Encino del Pozo" and "La Encantada". She paid $250 in USA currency. It was the intention of the grantors to pass one-half of the 250 acres to Yrinea Villarreal de Longoria and the other half of the 250 acres to the heirs of Juan Longoria. Romana Villarreal was the sister of Maria Rita Villarreal, Yrinea's daughter-in-law (and niece, probably). Parents: Ignacio VILLARREAL Elizondo and Manuela de la GARZA.

Flores. Juan Santiago LONGORIA Flores and Yrinea VILLARREAL Garza were married
on November 27, 1833 in Camargo, Tamaulipas, Mexico. This marriage
date means that they might have had a child, Maria Sostenes, before they married,
if Maria Sostenes was indeed born in 1832. However, there is some evidence (the
Last Will and Testament of Maria Sostenes) that she was not born until 1834.
Juan Longoria was probably the first Longoria to actually reside in La Grulla.
Josefina Vera writes "In the year 1836, Juan Longoria Flores, his wife
Yrinea Villarreal, and their small children moved across the Rio Grande to settle
in that part of their Porcion 94, and called the settlement "Los Mesquititos"...The
portales and jacales were hidden by dense mesquite and retama. Thick log fences
were built around the yards. Armed men guarded the place day and night. Through
a small peep hole in the fence, they could see anyone approaching."
The timing of Juan's move across the river is very interesting. It was on March
2, 1836, that Texas declared its independence from Mexico. The Alamo fell on
March 6, 1836, and Santa Anna was defeated in the Battle of San Jacinto on April
21, 1836. With Texas now a republic, many "gringos" started forcing
Mexican landowners of their lands and confiscating them as their own. To maintain
possession of their lands, the Mexican citizens had to live on them and fight
to keep them. I believe this is what prompted Juan Longoria to relocate his
family from Camargo to the future La Grulla in 1836.
It is also very interesting to note that Juan Longoria lived under "five
flags of Texas": the Spanish, Mexican, Republic of Texas, Confederate, and
United States flags.
Upon their deaths in 1892, the estate of Juan Longoria and Yrinea Villarreal
consisted of the following:
4415 acres in Porciones 93 and 94 (Starr County)
70 acres in Porcion 95 (Starr County)
930 acres in the Rucias concession of Guadalupe Sanches ( Hidalgo County)
1280 acres in Julian (Starr County)
5178 acres in La Encantada (Brooks and Hidalgo Counties)

Justina YBARRA. On November 21, 1999, Antonio Molina recalled that Rosenda's mother had a brother named Pedro Ybarra, who married Ruperta Longoria, and that Pedro had two daughters: (1) Silvestra, who married Guillermo Venencia, a brother of Agustin Venencia, and (2) Santos, who married Pedro Flores. Antonia Molina recalled that Rosenda stayed with her aunt Ruperta, after Rosenda's mother died. Parents: Pedro YBARRA and Ursula SOLIS.

Matiana YBARRA was born about 1860. The death certificate for Agustin Venecia shows his mother as Adelia Saenz. However, family oral history recalls her name as being Matiana. This is supported by the 1900 Census and the 1920 Census which gives the name of Jose Venecia's wife as Matiana; also the baptismal record for Agustin Venecia records his mother's name as Matiana. The death certificates for two of Agustin's siblings, Donato and Maximinia, record their mother's name as Matiana Ybarra.
