It appears Josefina Vera's recollections may have been inaccurate; perhaps, the woman she remembered as Santos Garza was in reality Faustina Garza.

Josefina Vera also stated that Santos Garza and her sisters Mercedes, Marcela and "la Huera" had been kidnapped by the Apaches and lived with them for some years. Santos first met Lucas Longoria as a boy when he was also captured by the Apaches.
