My father Raul Longoria's home (left) and grandfather Eugenio Longoria's home (right), ca. 1975.

The following websites are highly recommended to anyone interested in South Texas history and the genealogy of its pioneer families. I have also included some websites for those of you who might be interested in our ancestral homelands in Asturias, Spain. These are only a few of my favorites; there are many others too numerous to list here.

Frank Longoria's Home Page

Frank Longoria’s website contains the family trees of many Longorias, including our family branch, and historical information on some of the settlers of South Texas.  Frank does a particularly good job of covering the Jewish connections of our ancestors.

Pedro T. Rodriguez's Home Page

Pedro T. Rodriguez’s website contains the family trees of many Longorias and other founding families, and excellent historical information on La Grulla and South Texas. Sadly, Pedro T. Rodriguez, a native of La Grulla and also a descendant of Pedro Longoria, passed away on May 6, 2001; he left us much too early but left many wonderful memories and a fantastic legacy for his family (obituary).

Danny Villarreal's Home Page

Danny Villarreal has built a very impressive website, with links to many interesting and relevant sites and an extensive history of his Villarreal ancestors. He has many Longoria ancestors.  However, we have yet to connect his Villarreal and Longoria lines with mine (I suspect it's just a matter of time).  You can also access his large database on his website.

Texas History and Social Studies

A great website with extensive content on Texas history. This is a must visit for anyone interested in Texas history.

McAllen Memorial Library

Website for the McAllen Memorial Library, it contains a web version of Edna G. Brown’s translation of Jose Tienda de Cuervo’s 1757 Inspection and Report on the General State of the Colony of Nuevo Santander.

Principado de Asturias

A website of the Principality of Asturias.  Learn about Asturias -- its concejos (with maps), its monuments and museums, its fiestas and more.

Concejo de Belmonte de Miranda

Visit this website about the Concejo de Belmonte de Miranda to view our ancestral homelands and to learn about its history, geography and culture.

Links to photos of interest on the web:
